YubiParts will be winding down operations over the next few months.

Wait, what?

We will no longer be importing any new parts inventory, and our next two cab containers (one from China, one from Japan) will be our last. Our goal is to sell off as much inventory as possible before we are done with our lease. After that, we’ll put everything in storage and clear out what we still want to when we can.

We will still fulfill every outstanding order placed with us so far. Cabinets, controllers, IIDX PCs, etc.: if you’ve paid us for it, we will deliver it.

I’ll be sharing more info in the coming months as to exact dates and processes.

Why?

TL;DR: personal reasons.

I’m grateful to say that YubiParts is profitable enough that we could’ve continued operations if we wanted to. That is not the reason why we are closing.

Rather: I’m very burnt out, I’m tired, and I’m unable to focus on everyday tasks to keep YubiParts running. That’s why I’ve been much spottier with order fulfillment, responding to inquiries, etc., and I’m really sorry about that. I’ve been trying to bring in people to help around the warehouse but it’s been really hard finding folks with the proper skills and the time to commute up to me.

Granted, these are all short-term problems. We have a lot of things going on right now. Long-term, though, YubiParts is still too significant a burden for one 19 year old to handle. (I started selling parts when I was 16. I’ll be 20 in a couple weeks. Let that one sink in 🙂.) If I were to find a business partner and other staff to share the workload with, things might get a little more manageable, sure. But even with that support, it’d be too much for me. A multitude of personal obligations have cropped up over the past several months, and I need to allocate a lot of time and energy to addressing them. Most of them are too intimate to share. What I can say is that I just badly need the break and the time to focus on myself. Having taken bits and pieces of time away over the past couple months, I’ve realized that I miss having other hobbies and an active social life! Being too tired after work and on the weekends to see or do much takes its toll.

Wait! I have cabs to fix/arcades to run/controllers I want to buy!

I hear you! We’re working with other sellers in the community to make sure that all the parts and controllers we offer will still reliably be available going forward. I may even continue working on new product imports and development with a couple of other friends. And who know:, if my brainworms refuse to let me rest, I might be back in a year or so.

For controller support, you’re welcome to continue asking us for help. In the future, I may bounce you to our future controller seller or Yuancon (join his Discord) directly.

If you’re hankering for Japanese import cabs, I recommend my friends at Hadouken Arcade (Seattle, WA) and GndZero (South Carolina).
